About Me

Hi there!

Thank you for stopping by.

I want to share a little about me so you get to know me better.

First, I am a mom of two grown children, a daughter, early 30s and a son, late 20s. I became a grandmother to a baby girl, Dela in November 2019.

My Health Journey

Since my twenties I’ve had digestive issues. In fact I remember when my physician at the time, mentioned to me that I have gastritis and I need to learn how to handle my stress. To this day, stress has been an ongoing struggle of mine.

When I was a stay-at-home mom, I didn’t have stomach issues. Then in my forties, things changed after I got divorced. I had really bad acid reflux that I needed to see a gastroenterologist and had a procedure done, endoscopy to check my esophagus. I took several medications i.e. Zantac, Protonix, Acidphix, and more. The last one, Nexium, was when I said, “Enough is enough.”

I began studying nutrition by taking an online class. Then I found the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. And that is when my health shifted. I learned so much while I was enrolled in IIN’s Health Coach Training Program. Not only did I learn over 100 dietary theories, but after I did an elimination diet, I felt so much better and no longer needed meds (proton-pump inhibitors). If you want to learn the protocol I used, contact me.

Note: To this day I eat a primarily plant-based diet; however, I will eat wild caught salmon or cod, organic ground turkey, organic chicken, and occasionally an egg.

Background

I worked in aerospace for seven years then become a stay-at-home mom of two children for 15 years.  I divorced after 16 years of marriage and re-entered the work force. I worked temporary jobs before landing a position as an Assistant Property Manager.  I worked in commercial real estate/property management for approximately three years before becoming unemployed.

Working a 9 to 5 job, I ate a Standard American Diet…fast food, processed foods, lots of white rice and white pasta, refined sugar, etc.

Experience

I taught classes at Whole Foods and online. I am an author of Healthy Living Made Easy. I was the Santa Ana Digestive Health Examiner at www.examiner.com, and a featured health blogger for www.modernmom.com. I have collaborations with yogadownload, madebyhemp, and SundayScaries.

  1. Hi Shaline!
It was so nice to meet you at the Gluten Free Expo this past weekend. I’d love to chat more and see if there is anyway we can assist you. In the meantime, please check out my daughters’ cooking show on our blog at: http://www.TiaTalia.com.
It would be great to work together in some way.
    Thank you!
    Best, Karen
